What Are the Top B2B Lead Generation Tactics in the UK Right Now?
Updated: Apr 6
B2B lead generation is shifting fast in the UK.
What worked in 2024 didn’t always hold up in 2025 - and 2026 has brought a whole new wave of changes. Buying behaviour is evolving with the introduction of AI search and AI shopping into the noise.
Email marketing via data capture and subscriptions keeps inboxes full and competition is fiercer than ever
The result is us marketers need more targeted with intelligent tactics to cut through.
The reality is that some old favourites are fading while new strategies are emerging.
Email outreach is declining sharply
According to The Marketing Centre survey, email outreach is no longer king. In 2024 email marketing was the top B2B lead generation tactics, however in 2025 this had dropped to 30%.
And I can understand why.
As they state, "That’s a steep fall, but not a surprising one. B2B inboxes are more saturated than ever. Cold outreach feels increasingly spammy. Deliverability is harder to maintain. And buyer trust is in short supply."
This feels very authentic.
The evolution of Direct Marketing went from Direct Mail to Direct Email. I guess you could include SMS in there somewhere. But it was inboxes that were the measurement.
Now there is another changing of the guard.
Email inboxes have been saturated for years and now more than ever it is harder to get decent deliverability and harder to maintain. Email systems are now very intuitive with filtering and running AI software to test emails and links before delivery. Many never arrive and those that do, your metrics are no longer reliable. The cold outbound email approach has lost trust.
For those selling to subscribers, they fair better, but the inbox congestion means 80% still gets ignored.
My tips for making Email still work for you:
Hyper‑personalise messaging around role, industry and pain point
Warm up audiences with content before outreach
Keep messages concise and value‑first
Monitor deliverability closely with bot activity removed
Treat email as just one step in a broader multi-channel journey
PPC & SEO‑led content is rising in importance
Both content marketing and PPC have climbed significantly in marketing strategies in reent years. With an increased focus on high quality, well optimised content for traditional SEO and GEO, content is increasing from 16% to 30%.
SEO work takes time as we know. And with AI citing generation taking just as long, many marketers have increase spend on PPC from 20% to 36%, to help underpin the organic content strategy.
I have used a hybrid approach for some time now, writing core pieces of contents within a topic architecture, backed by keyword analysis, to increase inbound lead traffic over time from building brand and product reach via SEO and GEO.
And with such great content – you want to get it working for you straight away.
So, putting it out there via paid sources (content boosting, PPC adverts) together with organic socials and email, ensures it starts to add value.
This mirrors broader B2B data showing:
76% of marketers use content to generate leads
Content drives 3× more leads than outbound at 62% lower cost
Buyers’ self‑educate through search and long‑form content. So while SEO builds long-term pipeline reliability, PPC captures high-intent traffic; combining both strengthens authority and shortens the sales cycle
My tips for making this effective:
Target real buyer pains and questions
Use in‑house experts or sales teams for insights
Diversify content: not just written articles but webinars, longer guides, videos, case studies, checklists
Align PPC keywords with intent and landing pages with conversion
LinkedIn dominates: both organic and paid
LinkedIn is now one of the most-used B2B lead generation tools.
And it's one that doesn’t sit too well with me. LinkedIn etiquette is somewhat questionable these days. But sponsored content, Lead Gen Forms and retargeting are offering measurable ROI.
Organic thought leadership builds trust over time and is really important. And while it is said that DM’s and connection-led outreach outperform cold emails, you need to really make sure you know how you can deliver value and cut through the noise.
My tips to maximise LinkedIn:
Test multiple formats (carousel, video, text posts) - video and carousels routinely perform best.
Dial in targeting: job titles, industries, seniority to segmentation on Navigator.
Run both brand-building and lead gen campaigns
Retarget people who engaged with your content or visited your website
Keep creative fresh to beat algorithm fatigue
Most importantly, remember that no single channel wins alone
B2B lead generation thrives on integration, not isolation.
PPC brings the traffic
SEO content nurtures trust
LinkedIn captures attention and builds credibility
Email keeps conversations warm
A winning 2026 strategy blends these into a cohesive buyer journey.
